Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are rapidly making waves in the rom-com genre. One of the most talked-about movies of the year is already their upcoming R-rated movie Anyone But You, and fans can’t wait to see how they light up the screen.

With a 40-second teaser that had already surfaced on social media, we finally got our first look at Anyone But You after much anticipation (and even more speculation).

Sony’s Anyone But You, which co-wrote and directed by Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends With Benefits), is described as a contemporary — and possibly very loose — retelling of William Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

The plot centers on Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell), following the traditional enemies-to-lovers trope.

“For their own private reasons, college rivals who were bitter rivals in college pretend to be a couple when they get back together years later for a destination wedding.

But they fall in love through faking,” the official series synopsis says. (A little too many spoilers, but that was to be expected.)

An overview of Bea and Ben’s fictitious courtship in Australia is provided via the first teaser. Sweeney’s Bea tells an astonished Ben in the trailer, “Let’s just tell everyone we are together,” while the two have a less-than-romantic boat ride. “[It] could be kind of fun.”

Powell’s Ben subsequently declares, “There’s no way we can convince anyone that we actually like each other,” as brief snippets of the forced couple’s dynamics appear on screen.

Why is Everyone Else Except You?

As reported by Entertainment Tonight, shortly after the movie’s Australian production was completed, Powell and Sweeney disclosed a few story points at CinemaCon 2023 earlier this year.

Does Anyone But You have a caravan?

Absolutely. The first official teaser trailer for Anyone But You was released to the public on October 19, 2013, following months of exclusive release for a small number of people. You may view it below.

When is the release date of Anyone But You?

The original plan was for Anyone But You to be out on December 15, 2023, the same day as Timothée Chalamet’s musical precursor Wonka. Deadline reports that Sony has now rescheduled the release date for December 22, 2023.

The strong connection between Sweeney and Powell has drawn criticism from many quarters because both performers were involved in romantic relationships during production and their first press run.

It’s clear from interviews that the performers have a dreamy, clever repartee; in fact, Sweeney reportedly calls Powell “Top Gun.” Powell commented, “I love when she calls me that,” at CinemaCon 2023.

There has been a lot of eye contact, close body language, flirtatious banter, and laughter in every interview clip that has surfaced featuring the on-screen duo.
